About

Ahoy there, mate! Elisha, at your service. *bows* I’m a teenage daughter of God who has a passion for writing raw, vivid stories.

Why raw?

Not raw as in an uncooked squid, mind you, but raw as in a freshly mined diamond ore. It has an authentic combination of rough blemishes and sparkling beauty. It’s unpolished and defected but with so much potential and hope. Just like you and me! I strive to portray the intricate complexities and passions of human beings in my stories, all of which point to the original Author of Life.

Why vivid?

The word itself is derived from the Latin vividus, meaning full of life. To create vivid stories, I try to throw myself into Life, absorbing and noticing the magic of each small moment. I enjoy learning about everything under the Sun, and I’m always ready to try something new! All these experiences – voyages, as I like to call them – are reflected in my stories, breathing life into a conglomeration of 26 letters. Many of such voyages are shared on this blog, mostly for your entertainment, hopefully for your inspiration. 😉

A Few Fun Facts About Me

I’m a first degree black belt in Taekwondo.

(You’d think, with balance and all, that this would cure my clumsiness. Alas, not at all. At any random time you are bound to find bruises on me.)

I love traveling, experiencing foreign cultures, & learning new languages.

(Learning grammar leaves something to be desired…but it’s all worth it in the end. Which I chant to myself while undergoing tedious conjugations.)

I’m an avid swimmer who’s always longing for the ocean.

(The one place where I’m decently graceful is in the water. No promises on getting in and out of it.)

I’m a quote-collector & bookaholic, in love with all forms of literature, myth, legend, etc.

It’s so nice to meet you! I’m looking forward to seeing you on future voyages. In the meantime, as the Irish say…

May the road rise up to meet you,

May the wind always be at your back,

May the sunshine warm your face,

And rains fall soft upon your fields.

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Bon Voyage!

  1. Hi, Elisha! My name is Esther and I’m twelve. I found out about your blog through a comment on Africa Boy (Elisha McFarland’s blog), and I really like it!!! 🙂 I believe you had requested access to my blog as well (which is called Esther’s Nook), and I had been wondering if you had a blog. I’m so glad I found yours!! I play piano as well, though from watching one of your YouTube videos I’m definitely not as talented! 🙂 Still, I really enjoy it and hope to further my skills.

I can’t wait to see more great posts!! ❤ Have a blessed day!

    1. Hi Esther, nice to meet you! Thank you so much, I’m so glad you like it. Yes, I did request access to your blog, and it looks awesome!! I just gave it a follow. 🙂 It’s so cool that you play piano too! How long have you been playing? And what type of music do you enjoy playing? Aw, thank you! Practice is everything. 😉

Thanks so much for dropping by! Have a blessed day as well!

      1. 🙂 Thank you so much for replying!! I’m glad that you like my blog, and thanks so much for following it. I was just clicking around on your blog recently and I really enjoy your posts. I especially loved reading about your trips to Europe and New York!! It is my dream to go visit those places someday. 🙂

I’ve been playing piano for about six years, though I haven’t taken lessons for all six years since we moved to Louisiana in early 2019 and we moved again to Texas just over a month ago. We are still looking for a piano teacher here in Texas, though the corona virus has stopped us from looking very far! I do still practice when I’m not taking lessons, though it isn’t as fun when you don’t have something new to work on! 😉

I enjoy playing mostly classical and romantic music, and I also like playing hymns. ❤ My favorite composers are Mozart, Haydn, a bit of Tchaikovsky, and a few others. 🙂

    2. I’m glad you enjoyed reading them! I’m very blessed to have gotten the chance to visit so many places, so I’m happy that I could share parts of it with you. I hope you get to visit them one day too!

Yes, having a teacher helps a lot. I’ll be praying that you find a good one after everything returns back to normal. If there’s a piece you like, there are many places online where you can print out free sheet music and start learning them. IMSLP is one of my favorites.

I love Tchaikovsky as well! His music is so fresh and full of energy. It reminds me of Russia. 🙂
